Madrid 2023
April 2023 saw the return of the IMYO to Madrid. The orchestra teamed up with La Fantastica Banda and the Orquesta Escuela del Barrio for a grand performance of the music of The Beatles. As well as their rehearsals and performance, the orchestra members enjoyed the sights and sounds of the city, including the Plaza Mayor and a visit to the Irish Ambassador’s residence.
Cork School of Music 2019
In August 2019, the orchestra’s summer course took place in the magnificent Cork School of Music. Over the course of 2 days, the orchestra members received top-class tuition from professionals at the CSM, with plenty of laughs in the evening!
Madrid 2017
IMYO visited Madrid in April 2017, joining La Fantastica Banda for three performances of the music of The Beatles. The opening act of the show was an impromptu set of trad tunes by members of the IMYO. The playing was balanced out by sun and sights across a memorable few days for the orchestra.
Dubai 2015
After much hard work and planning, the IMYO were lucky enough to travel to Dubai in March 2015. As well as linking up with the Arabian Youth Orchestra, the orchestra performed at the Irish Village and Atlantis Aquaventure, the world’s largest water park.
Germany 2009
The first major international trip undertaken by the IMYO was to Germany, at the conclusion of a year long relationship between the IMYO and the Jugendsinfonieorchester, Bremen. The trip featured two full concerts of the combined symphony orchestras.
